About

Vera, an independent filmmaker, is a graduate of the Professional Programme in Screenwriting at UCLA and holds an MA in Film from Raindance. Her work has garnered recognition in film and screenplay competitions globally. Here are some highlights from her recent work:

  • Chasing the Long Yellow Line (documentary): Vera's feature-length documentary captures Dave Proctor's record-breaking run across Canada during the summer of 2022. To document Dave's adventure, Vera quit her day job and spent 75 days on Highway #1, sleeping in a Subaru. The film premiered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Casper International Film Festival in Wyoming, USA and was showcased as part of Visions du Réel Film Market in 2025. • Polynia (screenplay, co-written with Daniel Libman): Set in Arctic Siberia in the early 1990s, this love story was selected for Stowe Story Labs in Vermont in September 2022 and received support from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

  • Swan and Crow: The Tulum Machine (screenplay, co-written with Kath Eyres): A whimsical spy flick, this screenplay won in the Story Pros Awards in the Action/Thriller genre in 2020. It currently ranks in the top 3% of all scripts on Coverfly, a global platform where screenwriters share their work.

  • Shangku Shelter (documentary): Distributed on Apple TV, Amazon Prime and Globosat Brazil, this documentary recounts the tale of the first backcountry ski school in the Himalaya. It received awards at film festivals in India, Ireland, and the USA.

Having fallen in love with Golden, British Columbia, Vera is drawn to the stories of the small, authentic mountain town and its surprising inhabitants. As she spends more time in Golden, she is eager to share local stories.

When in Golden, Vera volunteers for the Little Mittens Wildlife rescue and assists the Missing Dog Response team in backcountry searches, nurtures native plants, and finds joy in observing moths, butterflies, birds, bears, and white-tailed deer. Perhaps, there's a story brewing about "The Stalking Deer of Lafontaine Road"...
